There are a number of well-regarded choices for university study in Lausanne. The University of Lausanne (UNIL) consistently ranks as one of the leading institutions for research in Europe. The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) is a world renowned technical school. For design, there is Écal and for business and management fields the International Institute for Management Development (IMD)

The Bologna Reform is a system to recognise foreign qualifications. It was created to facilitate mobility in the tertiary education sector. Switzerland was amongst the first countries to sign and implement this declaration. 

Many universities offer flexible study options for mature students, with evening and Saturday classes allowing for work and family commitments. Post-graduate degree courses can be taken when requirements such as a recognised tertiary education, work experience and permission to study in Switzerland are met.

Whether you're looking to study a new language, a new hobby, or a vocational skill, there are courses available in Lausanne. Sometimes online courses are also available. Migros Club School is a popular option with a diverse course offering at reasonable prices. However, most of their classes are instructed in French.
