Although most courses in Zurich are given in German, there are more opportunities for professional study in English than in other Swiss cities. Expat networking groups in Zurich are a good source of insider information and inspiration for personal enrichment. 

University study in Zurich

CRUS created a very useful and comprehensive list of all degree programmes in Switzerland that are offered in English. The Bologna Reform is a system to recognise foreign qualifications. It was created to facilitate mobility in the tertiary education sector. Switzerland was amongst the first countries to sign and implement this declaration. 

Many universities offer flexible study options for mature students, with evening and Saturday classes allowing for work and family commitments. Post-graduate degree courses can be taken when requirements such as a recognised tertiary education, work experience and permission to study in Switzerland are met.

Zurich University offers the largest choice of undergraduate and master's courses in Switzerland. Many of these are open to international students and run in conjunction with outside universities. Zurich Business School (DE) and the Institute of Technology welcome international students. 

Part-time & special interest courses

There are special interest courses available for most needs and interests, whether languages, pastimes or new skills. Online learning courses offer schedule flexibility. Migros Club School is a popular choice, although courses are generally taught in German. Flying Teachers offers a more flexible approach to language learning and can tailor the schedule to the client's lifestyle. 

Zurich City also offers informative courses about integration and culture in Switzerland.
