Introducing Booster Pilates Innovative fitness comes to Switzerland

Booster Pilates in Zurich is the first studio in Switzerland to use Sebastien Lagree's revolutionary fitness method and Megaformer machine. His technique is already hugely popular in America.

Studio owners Sandrine and Damien discovered the Lagree Method while living in London. They became completely hooked and missed it when they moved to Switzerland. Thus, they were inspired to open their own boutique studio in Zurich and to introduce Switzerland to a new type of workout.

Having participated in Megaformer Pilates classes when I lived in Los Angeles, I was already a big fan of this fitness method. Sebastien gave me an introduction to the new machine after our interview and even after only 15 minutes I was sweating! The Megaformer might look intimidating at first glance, but it will give you the best and most versatile workout of your life. It will leave you with a "boost" in your step for the rest of the day.

Interview with Sebastien Lagree, the California-based fitness visionary and inventor of the Lagree fitness method

What is the Lagree Fitness Method?

It is an evolutionary fitness technique that I developed to combine the therapeutic qualities of Pilates with the sculpting and toning benefits of strength training. Classes are 50 minutes in duration. They are high intensity yet low impact.

How did you come to develop the Megaformer?

As a personal trainer I noticed my clients wanted to follow their Pilates classes with sessions at the gym. I wanted to combine the best aspects of both types of workouts in one place. I also wanted to create a workout that appealed to both men and women.

It's amazing how versatile the Megaformer is, how has it evolved over the years?

I made my first machine, the Proformer, in 2003, and it has been evolving ever since. Changes are often inspired by students in my classes who I see using the machine in different ways. Many adaptations have involved increased personalization; there are adjustable parts and numbered lines on the carriage. I also made the carriage wider, making it easier to incorporate yoga poses into workouts.

Are these machines meant for personal use or studios?

The Megaformer is sold almost exclusively to studios. The community aspect of classes is important. Plus, there are so many different ways to use the machine that you will get more out of it if you have the chance to learn from an instructor and from other users. There is really an unlimited amount of exercise achievable with the Megaformer.

All classes at Booster Pilates are taught by certified instructors on the unique Megaformer machine. Each instructor brings their own awesome playlist to class to get your energy up and your endorphins flowing!
