What's special about us?
Are you looking for a school with small classes and a family-like atmosphere? You'll be delighted with our location, a historic building situated on the outskirts of Schaffhausen. The former hostel has been adapted to the needs of a school with comprehensive IT equipment in all classrooms, an exciting playground, two spacious libraries, science labs, creative arts rooms, a sports hall and many more stimulating and exciting features to discover.
International School of Schaffhausen - Secondary
The language of instruction is English. The German language is taught throughout the school and students for whom English is a second language receive special tuition in small groups or one-on-one. French is highly valued and offered from age 10.
Each mind has its own method
Students and teachers contribute to making learning an exciting and enriching experience respecting that "Each mind has its own method" (Ralph Waldo Emerson). Each individual develops their own personal way of processing information. Students learn at their own rate in their own style. In an inquiry-based, yet structured learning environment, students explore their interests, develop their strengths and will become successful and self-motivated learners.
ISSH Core Values
The ISSH core values are a set of values that unify all sections of the school community. They are the guiding principles for our students, for our staff and leadership and for our parents. The ISSH Values were defined through input from staff, board, students and parents:
- Be unique
- Take responsibility
- Achieve your potential
Application is possible all year around, providing places are available. The school welcomes visits by interested parents.
