For the 5-year jubilee of our mother's day gala in the Hotel Schweizerhof Bern & THE SPA, we present a unique and special project with Andrea Motis and Scott Hamilton. Marking the fifth anniversary of the Mother's Day Gala, we once again present a special project in collaboration with Hotel Schweizerhof. Andrea Motis and Scott Hamilton have been playing together before and immediately felt very comfortable with each other. You can expect a wide array of enthralling straight-ahead jazz and bossa nova numbers. Even though the trumpeter, singer and composer Andrea Motis is only 23-years-old, she displays a mature musicality beyond her years. That's because she began playing the trumpet at age seven; three years later she began studying jazz at the Municipal School of Music of Sant Andreu under bassist Joan Chamorro, who soon after recruited her for his band while she was still a teenager. While at the school, she was also a member of the Sant Andreu Jazz Band for nine years with which she recorded eight discs and played with such acclaimed musicians as trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, saxophonist Jesse Davis, clarinetist Bobby Gordon, and saxophonist Dick Oatts, among others. Scott Hamilton was born in 1954, in Providence, Rhode Island. He moved to New York in 1976 at the age of twenty-two, and through Roy Eldridge, with whom he had played a year previously in Boston, got a six-week gig at Michael's Pub. Roy also paved the way for him to work with Anita O'Day and Hank Jones. Scott got to work with and learn from people like Eldridge, Illinois Jacquet, Vic Dickenson and Jo Jones. Throughout the following years, Scott played and/or recorded with Benny Goodman, Dave McKenna, Jake Hanna, Woody Herman, Tony Bennett, Gerry Mulligan, Flip Phillips, Maxine Sullivan, Buddy Tate, Warren Vache, Rosemary Clooney, Ruby Braff, Jeff Hamilton, the Concord Jazz All Stars, the Concord Super Band and George Wein's Newport Jazz Festival All Stars. Scott was awarded the ‘Ronnie' for International Jazz Saxophonist of the Year in the 2007 inaugural Ronnie Scott's Jazz Awards. It is no wonder that Scott Hamilton is in demand the world over.
