
Entertainment & events in Fribourg
Fribourg is a small but multicultural university town with a significant medieval heritage and a lively arts and cultural scene. Frison is a popular live music venue in Fribourg. Many international bands play in this concert hall. One of the main events happening in July is the festival Les Georges (DE/FR) located in the city centre of Fribourg. In Dudingen there is also an excellent indie music festival in the spring called Kilbi.

The main newspapers that are published in Fribourg are La Liberté (FR) or the Freiburger Nachrichten (DE). They publish articles on world and regional topics, such as sport, politics and culture.
English language publications
International and foreign language newspapers are available at larger city newsstands and kiosks and at the train station. Swiss news is a monthly national newspaper focusing on events from an expatriate's perspective. Swiss Info is an online publication featuring daily news articles about Switzerland, published in many languages. Two other good English periodicals are The Local and Swiss Style.
Fribourg's city library has English books, publications and DVDs, as do the intercultural library Livrechange (FR/DE) and the Fribourg Cantonal and University Library.
Geneva Lunch is an online community newspaper which provides Swiss related news for the Swiss Romande region in English. Mothering Matters & Fathering Too is an excellent online journal for parents in Switzerland. It covers, in English, topics in health, education, travel, bilingualism and child development.

It is published quarterly and free of charge, containing articles and events for those living in Switzerland, as well as information for those still in the relocation process. Fribourg radio & television
The Swiss national public broadcaster (SSG/SSR) provides regional television channels in Switzerland's official languages via cable, installed in most homes. International channels are available on digital internet and telephone packages. The Federal Office of Communications (OFCOM) lists licensed broadcasters in Switzerland.

The main movie theatre is Cap Ciné, located in the "Equilibre" building. Movies are usually screened in the original language with subtitles. On Mondays entrance prices are cheaper.
