The city enchants visitors with its magnificent Gothic architecture:
first and foremost St. Nicholas Cathedral, as well as entire streets – over 200 in total – of 15th century Gothic façades.
There are 14 bridges and 12 historic fountains, which alone are worth a visit.

The great novelty this year is the newly opened town fortifications: the medieval fortifications are accessible during the day from spring to autumn.
Five gates, six towers, seven sections of walls, a large rampart: the most significant heritage of medieval military architecture in Switzerland is open to visitors.

Food lovers
As part of the Taste My Swiss Cities campaign of Switzerland Tourism, Fribourg also offers its Food Tour, Taste my Fribourg!
Combine a city tour with a culinary tasting: based on the city's main discovery route, this Food Tour will take you through the narrow streets of Fribourg, while offering you tasting breaks in places that are as much traditional as "trendy". An unmissable gourmet walk!
This tour is proposed by Michel FR, artist and native of Fribourg (in the photo above). Follow the advice of a local person and discover the right addresses of the city. These are a total of 5 places that Michel has selected for you to experience this exquisite Fribourg adventure.
The tour not only invites you to a great gastronomic experience, but also gives you the opportunity to discover the gems of Fribourg and meet the people of the area. Did you know that in Fribourg they speak Bolze? Ask around as soon as you are out for a walk in Fribourg!
Art & Love
The "Espace Jean Tinguely – Niki de Saint Phalle" is dedicated to Fribourg's most famous partners in art and married couple. It is a fascinating exhibition in the former tram depot in the town of Fribourg.
Tinguely's meta-mechanical devices appear to be timeless and ready to go and the "Nanas", voluptuous female figures by Niki de Saint Phalle are also clearly non-conformist. Creativity, elaborately implemented!
Nature lovers: Enter the dragon's lair
Hikers leave the Old Town of Fribourg via the Bern Bridge and enter the wildly romantic Gottéron valley with moss-covered tufa rugged rock faces, bubbling springs and enchanting flora. A magical hike, two paths away from the city centre.
