Bel-Air Tower

(9 Wows)

An interesting walk takes one along the footbridge where there are stunning views of the cathedral and the Bel-Air Tower. The Bel-Air Tower, a commercial building styled on the American model (with a steel frame and stone façade), was built in 1932 by Alphonse Laverrière. The 55 metre-high tower was one of the first ’skyscrapers’ in Switzerland. From the footbridge one can see the topography of the city, laid out amongst the hills and valleys of the area.
